want to fly for a corporation or the airlines? The Commercial Pilot
License is the next step you will take to make that job a reality. The
Commercial Pilot License is aimed at making you a more refined and
professional pilot. You will sharpen and hone your flying skills and
increase your aviation knowledge in the process of obtaining a
Commercial License. In order to be eligible for a Commercial Pilot
License, you need to have at least a Private Pilot License with an
instrument rating in the category and class. The price of the
Commercial Pilot License varies depending upon your currency in the
aircraft and previous flight experience.
Below is a detailed list of the requirements for the Commercial
Pilot License:
- 18 years of age and be able to read, speak, write and
understand the English language
- 250 hours total flight time
- 100 hours of pilot-in-command
- 50 hours of cross-country
- 20 hours of training on required maneuvers
- 10 hours of instrument flight time
- 10 hours of flight time in a complex aircraft
- 5 hours of night VFR flight with 10 takeoffs and landings at
a tower controlled airport
- One day-time VFR cross-country of more than 2 hours with a
straight-line distance greater than 100 NM
- One night-time VFR cross-country of more than 2 hours with a
straight-line distance greater than 100 NM
- One cross-country with a straight line distance greater than
250 NM with landings at 3 points
- 3 hours of flight in the aircraft used for the flight test
within 60 days prior to the checkride
- Pass the knowledge test with at least a 70%
- Pass the practical test
